Why doesn't ASNW hire more non-certifed interpreters?

Why doesn't ASNW hire more non-certifed interpreters?

We get asked this quite often. The truth is we would love to - there are some excellent non-certified interpreters with years of experience that are loved by their clients in our community - but our Deaf clients and the companies and organizations that use our services count on us to help them meet their goals of verifiable qualified ASL Interpreters and certification is "one" way we can do this. Even a certification does not guarantee an interpreter is included on our freelance team. Learn more here: http://www.asnwonline.com/index.php/com … ards.html.

Especially with recent changes in the certification process we have added new layers to our acceptance process to help us determine the appropriate placement of any interpreter on our team. It is our goal to do our part in insuring that our Deaf consumers and the companies and organizations that want to communicate with them can count on us to facilitate the best possible communications.

We welcome insights and feedback from all of our followers that will help us be the best agency we can be at all times.
